| Carlaya majored in fine arts and dance at UCLA. She began her radio career in 1988 at Kaleidoscope Radio Magazine in Hollywood, California producing her own show entitled ?New Talent Showcase? introducing talented aspiring artists with radio quality demos to the LA audience. She started her internship in 1989 at KCEP 88.1,Vegas and has been holding down the 6 to 10 slot since 1998 consistently holding the highest ratings for Urban radio in that slot for 5 years running. Her ?Sunday Night Slow Jams? is the hottest show on Sunday night Radio in Las Vegas. She hosts live remotes at various locations in Las Vegas including "The Classic Thursday Candy Shop" at OPM nightclub inside the Forum Shops at Caesars. As a music journalist Carlaya has interviewed artists as diverse as the late Roger Troutman, the Whispers, The Brothers Johnson, Tevin Campbell, Avant, 702 and many more. She has opened for George Clinton, Tina Marie, Lucy Pearl and Jill Scott and was featured as Guest DJ on BET Live in LA. Her style is warm but cutting edge and energetic, ‘sexy but not sleazy’ on air and in person. Armed with over 2000 vinyl records in her collection, thousands of CD’s and her own state of the art digital audio mastering studio, Carlaya, The Queen of Flow weaves sweet old school from back in the day with today’s blazing Hip Hop, R&B and Smooth Jazz hits like a cozy warm knitted blanket, just right for snuggling up with your significant other.
